TDL vs SDL

You've probably heard these terms somewhere, but what do they mean?
TDL stands for True Divided Light, meaning that each pane or "lite" as we call it is a different separate piece of glass. This is how a lot of very old windows and door glass was made a long time ago. SDL stands for Simulated Divided Light, where the glass in the door is one peice, and the "lites" are created by SDL bars on the outside of the glass. Some companies just apply these SDL bars with double sided adhesive tape to get the pattern the customer chooses. This eventually will fail and the bars will fall off, years later. If you look at the bars from an almost vertical angle, you can see right though that its one peice of glass.
At Maxcraft, most of our models have fully molded SDL Bars to the skin of the door for added strength, and also so they'll never come off. The door is also  strengtened because instead of 4 or 6 "lites" or "panes" of glass, you have one think insulated glasss unit that has no weak points in the middle where the SDL or TDL bars meet. We've also added a shadow bar that can be seen in photos below to show how the SDL glass looks like seprate panes of glass. The only visual difference between SDL adn TDL is the presence of Beveled Glass on a TDL glass door.

Note the SDL bars are molded to the skin of the door as well as adhered to the glass. These will not fall off over the years and will look beautiful for years to come.
Also not the Shadow Bars on this SDL door giving the door the look as if each of the lites were indivindual peices of glass.
